It's All About The Swings

As a child, I used to love the swings. You could fly high and fast without a care in the world. Lately, I wish I could go back to those days, even for just a little while. I was so psyched when I found this digital stamp at Whimsie Doodles. She is called Swing Leah. If you check out their blog, you can see all of the great samples from their design team. There is also a little boy on a tire swing, his name is Swing Koale. I decided that she would look great if her swing was hanging off a tree branch, which I cut free hand. Leah is popped up so it looks like she gliding through the air. I used Martha Stewart punches to make the flowers and leaves. The clouds where sponged on with white ink using a dauber.

NOMAR!

A card that Nikki Estes made with Papertrey Ink's, Blooming Button Bits, helped me decide to buy that set. That very card was the inspiration for this card. Instead of using buttons for the flower centers, I just punched small circles out and popped them up. I used a dauber to sponge the white ink on the paper to make the clouds. I love this little gnome, he's actually for a holiday card, but I thought he would be perfect for it. I call him Nomar, after Nomar Garciaparra, a Red Sox Player, of course! (For all you women's olympic soccer fans, he's married to Mia Hamm). If you watch old SNL, there was a skit with Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch where they were from Boston and their "accents" were perfect. It's totally wicked pissah! But, they used to always yell out, "Nomar!". Sorry, I got off the subject.

Back to my card, sometimes I don't think what I'm doing and I stamped the sentiment last, and of course, it smudged a little. Dang it. I actually said much worse, but my 12 year old niece and my Dad reads this, so this is the PG-13 rated version. Just pretend that you don't notice it. Nomar's beard is made with liquid applique and I put diamond glaze on his hat.

More Mother's Day Flowers

This card probably took 20 minutes to make, but it took me several days to photograph it! Every time I took the picture, it was either too dark, too light, yellow or the colors blurred! So, this is the final picture, like it or not! I used two different paper punches to make the flowers. The flower centers are popped up for added dimension and then finished by punching out leaves with ric rak stems. The grass is hand cut. Nestabilities were used to make the sun. The sentiment is from Dandelion Designs. Those stamps are the perfect sizes for the the 1 1/2 inch circles.

Mother's Day Gift Set

This was a quick gift set to make. I downloaded the pattern for the nugget box at Dandelion Designs and just printed it onto the cardstock and cut it out. The tag was made using nestabilities and attached to the box with ribbon. For the card, I used the "quilt" sketch and added faux stitching with a pen. I used my Martha Stewart punches to make the butterflies and flowers, and them embellished them with half pearls. The stamps are from Dandelion Designs.

Happy Mother's Day with Minnie Mouse!

I love all things Disney. While I currently live here in Florida and grew up in Massachusetts, I was born in Anaheim, California. My great grandfather, Elmer Napier, was a blacksmith by trade, but he also was an extra in the old western movies. Grandpa Napier often drove stage coaches once he even dressed as a pioneer woman! He was a big man with a white beard, so he also played Santa Claus in the Thanksgiving Day parade in San Fernando. When Walt was opening Disneyland in Anaheim, he called Grandpa and asked him to drive the stagecoach around Frontier Land. Grandpa didn't end up doing that, but it's exciting to know that he was called. So, basically, you can see why I love Disney.

I made this card before I was in the hospital. When my Mom went to my apartment to feed my kitties, she saw the card sitting on my craft table! Oh well, I know she will act surprised. Grandpa Napier is her grandfather and she loved him very much.

I used the Mickey Font Cricut Cartridge to cut the letters and Minnie head. The letters are popped up and I put the little red pearls on for extra dimension. I got the idea from Donna at Popsicle Toes. She has the greatest stuff made with the Cricut. I will be adding her to my favorite blogs on the sidebar. The little Mickey Mouse heads are from a punch that I bought a couple of years ago. Hey, I knew I would use it eventually!

Mother's Day Daisies

This is a super quick and easy card. You can adapt it to almost any occasion just by changing the sentiment. The flowers were punched out using a Paper Shapers punch, then I scored the petals to give it a 3-D look. I think I've watched the movie, Tommy Boy, too many times, but the scene with the bees is one of my favorites. In honor of that extremely hysterical movie, I added a bee brad.

Fox, you are what you make!

One of the first cars that my sister, Laura, bought was a Volkswagon Fox. She used to say, "You are what you drive!". So, it seemed appropriate that I made this card!

I am totally addicted to Quickutz. I have a bazillion of them, and I always need more! My favorite store isn't carrying them anymore, dang it! The "fam" and I are going to the Scrapbook Expo in Orlando next month, so I will able to get my fix there! I love this little fox. I used him for my Dad's Father's Day present last year. When I saw this paper at Michaels, I just knew that the little fox would be perfect on it.

Time for Tea

When Lauren Meader debuted "Get A Handle On It", one of her My Timeless Templates, she made this adorable little teapot. I knew I had to have that template, and I knew I wanted to make teapot. The teapot can hold a box of teabags or you can put some little shortbread cookies and teabags for a perfect afternoon snack. These are great gifts for Mother's Day, birthdays, and a little something for your child's teacher. I cut the handle with two oval Nestabilities and the spout I drew free hand. I used a variety of Nestabilities to cut the circles and scalloped circles. A border punch and corner rounder was used to make the medallions featured on a recent edition of the Weekly Inkling on Splitcoast.

Everyday Button Bits

I made a few cards with Papertrey Ink's, Everyday Button Bits last night while I was watching Law & Order: Criminal Intent. That is one of my favorite shows, but it was the last one with Detectives Goren and Eames. I don't think I'll watch it anymore, it just won't be the same. My Dad and sister also like the show. For Laura's birthday the year before last, (my sister) her kids and I got her a tickets to go see Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. It was so wicked awesome! Instead of just giving the her the tickets in an envelope, we made a case evidence file from Det. Goren asking for her help in solving an illegal "cat juggling" ring. The file had clues left from crime scenes that she had to figure it out what they meant. For example, there was a picture of Richard Petty's race car, and picture of Tom Brady, a heart that I cut in half, etc. We put it in a three ringed binder , I printed graphics from the NYPD, and put it in a big padded envelope. We made "Wanted" posters with our mug shots and everything. It was pretty cool. It's kind of depressing now that their run is over.

Now, onto my card. It got the layout from Papercrafts Card Creations. I just changed the colors. I stamped the leaves twice, paper pieced, and popped them up.

Happy Birthday, Laura!

Today, is my sister, Laura's, birthday. I made her this gift bag. Technically, it's an easter basket, but since we are HUGE New England Patriot Fans, it seemed appropriate. I made some more cheerleaders to decorate the outside. In the basket is a big Hershey Bar with Almonds that I covered with football paper and embellished with another cheerleader. I also made another notebook with coasters and my Bind-It-All. Laura is a teacher, so I put a couple of apple rubber stamps in there, as well. She picked out a Martha Stewart paper punch out at Michaels, which I tucked in the basket for the photograph. It is one of those round the corner ones, it's totally cool, and I definitely need one! We spent the day together. I took her out to a little Mexican restaurant for lunch. Then we went to Violette's, a wicked awesome scrapbook shop here in Lakeland, and bought some supplies. We had a great time. She is on her way home to have dinner with her kids and our mom. She is my best friend in the whole world!

Loads of Love

I started to post this last night, but I was having problems with the layout. It was getting late, and I had to finish my sister's birthday present. So, hopefully this will work this time! My sister and my mom recently went to a Stampin' UP party and I asked them to order me the Loads of Love Acessories. I just love the little pumpkins and the pups!

I made this card before I got the new set. The flowers, in the back of the truck, are paper pieced and popped up for extra dimension. I made the flower doodads with a paper punch, some ribbon, and rhinestones.

I was hoping to finish this post before I went to work this morning, but better late than never! Tonight is opening night for baseball at Fenway Park, so I am totally psyched.
