Every Day Cards

I was reading the Weekly Inkling the other day, and came across a thread about giving home made journals. One of the members commented that she has made cards and scrapbooks for her sister, and her sister told her that while they were "cute", she basically didn't want anymore of her handmade gifts. That really upset me. I'm always giving things to my family, and every time I give them something, they act like it's the best thing they have ever received! One of my friends has a shelf in her home with all of my goodies on it. She calls it her center for inspiration! I wish I could remember what the lady's name was, if anyone remembers reading about it, let me know. My Grandma Maggie used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". I love getting homemade gifts, I can't figure out why anyone would not want them. Therefore, I'm dedicating this post to my stamping sister, who I can't remember your name (sorry!), thank you from everyone who has received a special, thoughtful, and homemade gift! We love them!

I wanted to make a simple set of cards to give as a gift. I embossed the sentiments using clear embossing powder. The stamp set is from Lauren Meader's My Time Made Easy, Just For You Set. I wanted to make a nice gift box, but I was up until 1 AM working on it, wasted 5 pieces of card stock, used up the last of my sticky strip, said some not very lady like words when I got frustrated and decided to work on it another time.

Supplies:
Stamps: My Time Made Easy-Just For You
Paper: Bazzill, DCWV, Recollections, Core-dinations
Ink: Versafine
Misc: Embossing gun, embossing powder, paper punches, half pearls, nestabilities, pop up dots

Baby Sock Cupcakes

I saw these great baby sock cupcakes at Lori's blog, Afternoon Delight. You can see her post here. You can find the directions/tutorial links on her post. The cupcakes were designed by Lauren Meader and of course, I used one of her templates to make the box. Two sets of my friends are expecting babies, one boy and one girl, so I got to do them in both colors. The cupcakes take three socks each, so I made one for both the moms and the dads. That way there are an even amount of socks for the little baby feet.

Supplies:
Paper: Recollections, DCWV
Template: My Time Made Easy-Shutterfly
Misc: Socks, glitter, ribbon, sticky strip, pop up dots, prima flowers, nestabilities, half pearls, paper punch, clear acetate

Trick or Treat, Smell my Feet

I'm trying to get a jump start on my Halloween projects. M&M's are one of my favorite food groups. These little candy tents are perfect for any type of candy. Since the sentiment is computer generated, you can change it for your favorite kind of candy. The only thing I had to buy for this project were the packages of M&M's, so I'm pretty psyched about that!

The trick or treaters were cut out using the Paper Doll Dress Up Cricut Cartridge. Their candy pumpkins were made using an egg shaped paper punch and the handle from a Quickutz shopping bag die.

Supplies:
Paper: Debbie Mumm, Bazzill, Recollections, Bo Bunny, The Paper Company
Ink: Memento, Stamps by Judith
Misc: Cricut, PDDU cartridge, sharpie pen, ribbon, pop up dots, paper punch, quickutz

Putting On The Glitz

I'm so proud of myself right now. I made with card with supplies I already had, I didn't go buy anything new to finish it! That never happens.

Her dress and hat are paper pieced. Diamond Glaze was applied to her shoes, belt and hat band to give it a patent leather look.

Supplies:
Stamps: My Favorite Things-Putting On The Glitz
Ink: Memento
Paper: Bazzill, Graphic 45
Misc: Diamond glaze, copics, rhinestones, half pearls, prima flowers, pop up dots

Oh, Major Nelson...

Laura and I used to love watching I Dream of Jeannie. We would watch it whenever we could, except when Hogan's Hero's was on and our brother was home. I bought this stamp set when it first came out, and I'm just now using it! The astronaut is a Quickutz double cut.

Supplies:
Stamps: Hanna Stamps-I Dream of Hanna
Ink: Versafine, Memento
Paper: Bazzill, DCWV, Petaloo, Recollections
Misc: Quickutz, pop up dots, copics, glitter, rhinestones

Baby Carriage

My friends, Heather and Tony, are expecting their first baby next month. I've been wanting to making one of these carriages since I stumbled onto Mary Jo Albright's blog, Beauty Lies Within. You can see her post here. After several attempts and a lot of paper wasted, I came up with a pattern for the carriage top. The flowers in the carriage are made from onesies and a paper punch. The base of a carriage is a flower box that I bought in the dollar section of Target a few years ago. Once I had the first one done, I went a little crazy and emptied all of my flower boxes and made a few more.

Supplies:
Paper: DCWV, Coredinations
Misc: Paper punch, tissue paper, buttons, dmc floss, sticky strip, flower boxes, ribbon, pearl stamens, white floral tape, pop up dots

Now Presenting...My Niece Jenny!

My niece and bff, Jenny Beth, came and stayed a few days with me earlier this week. She is a wonderful artist. She wanted to try some digital stamps, and we found these great Wonderland digital images from The Greeting Farm. Granny (my Mom) took us to Violette's Scrapbook Store and bought her some Graphic 45 Alice in Wonderland paper. Jenny made these two beautiful cards all on her own.

Jenny would like to be a guest blogger on my blog, so she is starting her own column, called "JB's Corner". Stay tuned for her installments, she recently tried flocking and will be presenting her cards here.

Supplies:
Stamps: The Greeting Farm-Digital, Sentiment-Unknown
Paper: Graphic 45, Recollections, DCWV
Misc: Pop up dots, buttons, bic pens

Button Spiders

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I love scary movies. I remember there was a horror movie on tv, when we were little, and it had this gigantic spider and it took over a town. I wish I could remember the name of the movie, it would be fun to watch again.

That movie inspired me to make these little button spiders. I wish the projects came out a little better. It "looked" great in my mind, but when I put them together, they just don't do it for me. You should see my trash cans right now! They are over flowing from all of my mistakes! I just glued two buttons together and used a variety of colored wires to make the legs.

Supplies:
Paper: Heidi Grace Designs, Graffix
Misc: Buttons, wire, googlie eyes, pop up dots, crimper, sticky strip, ribbon, nuggets

Back to School

I was in Walmart yesterday and noticed that they are starting to put the school supplies out already. My favorite thing about going back to school was buying school supplies. I remember that the Trapper Keepers were the hot thing when I was in the sixth grade. I had one with kittens on it, it was the best notebook ever!

Last year, I made presents for the office staff at my sister's school. They are vital to the day to day operations of the school, and I wanted them to feel appreciated. These are perfect way to welcome your teachers and support staff back to school. The ideas are limitless in the way to embellish to suit the recipient. The sentiment is computer generated and I used the Preserves Cricut Cartridge to make the little apple. I made my own takeout box, but you buy them pre-made at Michaels. What will you use to fill the box? I think chocolate is the best present, but little school supplies, a bottle of Tylenol, a gift card to Starbucks, or some homemade cookies would be great. Don't forget the pencil chopsticks, they add the finishing touch to your gift.

Supplies:
Paper: Bazzill, DCWV
Misc: Wire, nestabilities, Cricut, Preserves Cartridge, pencils, pop up dots, pencils, ribbon

Bite Me!

One of my favorite movies is Jaws! I think I can recite the entire movie! When I saw this digital stamp, Sharkie, from Cheeky DIG's, I knew I had to have it. The digital image comes with three great sentiments, but I decided to make my own using alphabet beads.

Supplies:
Stamp: Cheeky DIGs-Sharkie (digital)
Paper: Bazzill, Recollections, DCWV
Misc: Nestabilities, cuttlebug embossing folder, pop up dots, glitter, copics, rhinestones, alphabet beads

I hope everyone had a nice 4th of July. It has been raining here since Saturday night. I'm getting tired of rain, but the grass is really green. But, it's a perfect day to stay in and craft. I think I will watch all four Jaws movies! It was slow where I work last night, so I was able to leave early. I did get to watch the fireworks that where at the stadium from my window. I just love fireworks.

I had a few candy bars left over and I wanted to do something fun for the 4th of July for my friends at work. The stamped image is a digital stamp from Stamping Boutique, Patriotic Audrey. Audrey is popped up for added dimension. The sentiment is an old wood stamp from Darcie's Country Folk. I attached a little American Flag to the back.

Hamburger Cookies

If you need a quick dessert to bring to your 4th of July cook out, bring these hamburger cookies. There is no baking involved, so it's great for the kids to make. You don't have to limit it to just the 4th of July, it would be a great project for the kids when they get restless during their summer vacation!

The buns are made out of Nilla Wafers, the burgers are made out of Keebler Grasshopper Cookies (or if you have some Girl Scout Thin Mints in your freezer), the lettuce, cheese, and ketchup are made with Wilton Icing.

The carrier box template is from My Life's Art cupcake mix carrier. You can see the post here. I just tweaked the measurements to fit the ingredients. The hamburger is from Dawn's Stamping Studio. You can see her video here.

Supplies:
Stamp: Stamps by Judith
Paper: DCWV, Best Creations, Recollections, Bazzill
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress
Misc: Pop up dots, paper punches, stickles, cookies, frosting, plastic bags, ribbon, American Flag, plastic bags, icing tips, black sharpie, white gel pen

Happy Father's Day with Tigger!

This is the Father's Day card I made for my stepfather, Chuck. It's actually the second one, the first one was chewed up! One of my kitties decided to help embellish the card with decorative perforated border. I'm pretty sure it was little Tedy, there were little tooth marks in it!

Chuck loves Tigger. I thought that this would look good on his desk as a kind of name plate.

Supplies:
Paper: Bazzill, The Paper Company, Recollections
Misc: Cricut, Pooh and Friends Cartridge, pop up dots, yellow copic pen, assorted half pearls

My sister got married last weekend. Our Dad and brother Richard came down. Dad spent the week at my place. My niece, Jenny, also stayed. We went to Kennedy Space Center, one of my favorite places in the world. We also went to Fantasy of Flight and had a great time. I think Jenny is going to be a Warbird Nerd, too. I took lots of pictures, I'm going to post a few here and there. I took a few days off at work, but now I'm back and back to crafting.
