Apple For My Teacher

I wish I could take credit for this awesome idea, but actually I found it on Pinterest!  It was created by the super talented Creative Jewish Mom, you can find her blog and the instructions here.

With the stress of worrying about my move, which is next week, transferring to a new job location and everything else that goes with that, my mojo is all but gone!  I thought this would make a great little gift.  I made it for my favorite teacher.

I made just a few little changes.  The stem of the apple is just a strip of cardstock that I ran through the crimper.  I free hand cut some leaves from felt and added a little machine stitching.  the tag was made using the Papertrey Ink Apple Die and an alphabet stamp set.

Inside of my apple is a little bit of candy wrapped in some red tissue paper.

Here is the side view of how I attached the top and bottom.  It's a little blurry, but it gives the example of how I connected the top to the bottom.

Supplies:
Stamps:  JoAnn Fabrics-Alphabet
Ink:  Versfine
Paper:  October Afternoon, Recollections
Misc:  Ribbon, 2 plastic seltzer bottles, felt, crimper, tag, tissue paper, sewing machine, Crop-A-Dile, pop up dots, jute

Just Checking In

Hi everyone, I just wanted to give you an update on my new apartment search.  I have found a great new apartment and will be moving to Orlando in early September.  I am trying to pack my current apartment and work as many hours as I can at my job so I have an extra money to move.  Thus, I don't have as much crafty time as of late, bummer.  I do have a couple of projects that I am in the process of completing and hope to post them real soon.

Yesterday was my birthday, yay!!  We went to Violette's Scrapbook store and the cats "bought" me some new Pure Innocence sets as my present.  I am excited to ink them up and I got lots of great ideals for Halloween.  So, I will post as soon as I can.

Back To School Gift Bags

I made some gift bags to match the tags that I made to welcome the teachers back to school.  I just used some lunch sacks.  A square was cut out of the bag and clear acetate was adhered to the inside.  I found this "desk tape" at the teacher store and I adhered it to the bottom of the the bag.  The apples were cut using a Papertrey Ink Die.  One was cut out of chalkboard paper then stamped with white ink with a sentiment from the Lizzie Anne Designs School Days stamp set.

I filled the bag with one of my pencil notepads, a little bag of cookies, and a decorated water bottle.

The water looks green, but it's just the other side of the designer paper.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts My Type stamp set.

The bag is held closed with a clothespin that I decorated with washi tape and a few more stars.

Supplies:
Stamps:  My Favorite Things-Talk Nerdy To Me, Hero Arts-Just My Type, Lizzie Anne Designs-School Days
Paper:  October Afternoon, Recollections, Bazzill
Ink:  Memento, CTMH
Misc:  Lunch sack, desk tape, buttons, baker's twine, pop up dots, clothespin, My Favorite Things Stars Die-Namics, Papertrey Ink Apple Die, paper punches, water bottle, clear acetate, cookies, notepad, sewing machine, typewriter

Teacher Tags

I am working on some little welcome back to school gift bags for my sister and her teacher friends.  Today, I am showing the tags that I made for the bags.

So, I just cut out some tags from regular cardstock.  Then, I cut strips of October Afternoon Schoolhouse paper and adhered them to the tags.  I added a little machine stitching around the tags to hold the strips into place.

The cute little pencil girl is My Favorite Things Talk Nerdy To Me.  She is colored with Copics and pencil is paper pieced.  Nerdy Girl was fussy cut and then adhered with pop up dots to a circle.  The stars are My Favorite Things Die-Namics.  The apple was cut using the Papertrey Ink Apple Die with some chalkboard paper.  A button and some baker's twine completed the apple embellishment.  I typed the teacher names with my trusty $5.00 yard sale typewriter.

Here are all six tags completed.

Supplies:
Stamps:  My Favorite Things-Talk Nerdy To Me
Ink:  Memento
Paper:  Recollections, October Afternoon, Bazzill
Misc:  Tags, buttons, baker's twine, Nestabilities, pop up dots, sewing machine, typewriter, Copics, Papertrey Ink Apple Die, My Favorite Things Stars Die-Namics

A Card For Sarah

My brother and his girlfriend, Sarah, came down this past weekend for Davey's party.  It was good to see them.  I realized that in all the time Richard has been with Sarah, I've never made her a card.  So, using one of my Bingo Cards, I made her one.

The stamped image is Pure Innocence Out On A Limb.  Little Sarah is colored with Copics and her dress is paper pieced.   I used lots of Die-Namics on this....grass, butterflies, and the fishtail pennant.

I made a matching bag/envelope for my card using some washi tape, embroidery cotton, a button and an extra butterfly.  I personalized the bag with an alphabet stamp set.

Supplies:
Stamps:  JoAnn Fabrics-Alphabet and My Favorite Things Pure Innocence-Out On A Limb
Paper:  My Mind's Eye-On The Sunny Side, Bazzill
Ink:  Versafine
Misc:  Bingo Card, washi tape, paper bag, My Favorite Things Die-Namics Grass- Butterflies-Fishtail Pennant, pop up dots, baker's twine, embroidery cotton

We had a nice time at Davey's party.  He left on Tuesday for Boot Camp.  Here is his with old Aunt and his Mom!

A Salute To Davey!

My nephew, Dave, has enlisted in the US Army!  We are so proud of him.  He is leaving next week for Boot Camp.  My sister, his Mom, is throwing a party for him tomorrow.  I decided to make some little party favors for the celebration.

Washi tape was adhered to some paper sacks to create the American Flag.  Then, I made some little paper punch soldiers.  The dog tag was computer generated and then I topped it off with a gold punched star.  Little packages of cookies were put in the bags.

I made and Army of 25 of these little goody bags!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Clear Dollar Stamps-Patriotic Nuggets
Paper:  Karen Foster, Bazzill, Recollections, Colorbok
Misc:  Washi tape, paper sacks, cookies, paper punches,  Sharpie pen, pop up dots, brads

Today is Jenny's birthday, I will give her the Labor Of Love birthday box tomorrow when I see her at the party.

It's also someone else's birthday....

Happy Birthday, Tom Brady!!!!  I'll see you in a couple of weeks at the football game, yay!!!
