A Birthday Cupcake for Olivia

I wanted to do something a little different for little Olivia's second birthday. Olivia is the daughter of one of my bff's, Victoria. While I was blog surfing one night, I came across these adorable little cupcakes made out of onesies and receiving blankets. You can see them here. I don't know of anyone who is having a baby and Oscar wouldn't appreciate sporting a onesie, so I had to figure out another way to make these great cupcakes. So, I'm at Target buying cat food, and see these cute little leggings and tank tops, and I thought, why couldn't I use those to make a cupcake?



With a little folding and rolling, the cupcake was formed. The wrapper is a coffee filter that I stamped. I made a little bakery/coffee style bag for the cupcake with a paper lunch sack and some clear acetate. The cupcake embellishment was made using the From My Kitchen Cricut Cartridge.

My Mom and Laura were a little disappointed that they were not eligible to win. But, I give them stuff all of the time. For Valentine's Day, I made Laura a Tom Brady candy jar. She brought it to school and made her students say thank you to Tom Brady when then took a piece of candy!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

I've been busy sewing my Bitty Bags and decided to participate in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. The challenge for the Blog Hop is to use scallops.

So, this is what I came up with. The paper is from Bazzill and Bo Bunny, while the ink is from Memento. I made a tag for my bag using the Fillable Frames #5 Die, Nestabilities Standard Tag Die, and the Flower Fusion #1 Flower Die. The stamped image (the stem) is from Flower Fusion #1 Stamp Set and the border from Fillable Frames #5 Stamp Set. The flower and the scalloped tag is popped up using pop up dots. A little button and ribbon finished off my tag/bag combination. This is the perfect set to give to someone special for any occasion.

Happy Blog Birthday and Blog Candy Gift Bag Give Away!

I'm very excited, my first blog birthday is only a week away! This is so much fun. I remember when I got my first follower that wasn't one of my friends or family members. Then, I had ten followers, woo hoo, and now 100 followers! It's just so totally awesome. I just love reading all the comments, it has done wonders for my self-esteem.

So, as a small gesture of gratitude to all of my faithful followers, I have made a gift bag of blog candy. I made the little bag, I call it my Bitty Bag. I love gift bags, but the paper ones don't store well and you can really only use it for gift giving. But, with the Bitty Bag, the possibilities are endless. You can put your lunch in it,use it a purse, gift bag, crafty stuff, or whatever your heart desires. The Bitty Bag Tag was made using the Everyday Button Bits from Papertrey Ink. I LOVE Papertrey Ink, and the cherries matched perfectly to the fabric on the bag.

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Club-MFTWSC7

Thank you for all of your kind comments regarding my ugly card from yesterday's post. I really appreciate it, it's so sweet.

I decided to play along with the Wednesday Sketch Club over at My Favorite Things. You can see Kim's blog post here.

For my card, I used the Die-Namics Framed Greetings Set. The paper is from October Afternoon and Bazzill. I sponged some Tim Holtz Antique Linen ink on a little Martha Stewart Doily. Then, I attached a little heart yo yo with a tiny button that I made while watching Gone With The Wind. That is such a good movie, Clark Gable was a real hottie. I can see why so many women loved him! Sorry, didn't mean to get off the subject.

My Ugly Card

I found this cool blog called Crap I've Made. She is really funny and has made some really neat stuff. Today's card is definitely not one of my better ones. I must have taken the front off, cursed at it, and thrown it in the trash like four times. I'm still not happy with it. It's not what I had envisioned in my head. So, here is the crap I made:

The flowers were cut using the Papertrey Ink Beautiful Blooms die. They are such pretty dies, and I ruined them by making these flowers! I added too much ribbon, too many pearls and the doily looks grey against the black polka dotted background.

Oh, well, hopefully my Mom will look at it and say it's just beautiful and it's the prettiest card she has ever seen. Thank goodness for Moms.

Welcome Spring Tree

I hope this card with coax some spring weather for everyone who has had WAY TOO MUCH SNOW this year. It sure has been a tough winter. My Dad is expecting temperatures in the 50's this weekend, so hopefully his snow will melt.

The stamps are from Stamps by Judith. The flower pot is masked on. I double stamped the little flowers and adhered them to the card with pop up dots. Diamond glaze was applied to all of the little flowers and leaves to give added texture. I embellished the card with some paper punch flowers, a doily and some polka dotted ribbon.

Happy Valentine's Day with Wyatt

I made this for my Dad for Valentine's Day. He was always loved model railroading, and has set up a replica of Carson City, Nevada during the gold rush in my old bedroom. He has been working on these models since he was a very young man and it was something he and my Great Uncle Lisle, for whom Dad was named after, enjoyed together.

The penny candy style jar is one I bought at Halloween at Walmart and filled it with the little Snickers Bars. I stamped, colored, and paper pieced Wyatt the Conductor two times. One was used for jar and the other for the candy bar box. The train themed paper is from the Playtimes Past Collection from Graphic 45. A little bandanna ribbon, a few buttons, and some paper punched hearts completed the project.



This is the candy bar box made with a card box. The card box holds five Mars Bars perfectly.

Paper Pouch Valentines for Your Favorite Supa Fan!

I saw these great baseball and basketball lollipops at Target and thought they would make perfect Valentines for my family. I used some of my paper pouches and decorated them with some pattern paper, doilies, and some embellishments.



For the Boston Celtics pouch, I printed a picture of my favorite player, Kevin Garnett. Love him!! The green shamrock paper was made using the shamrock from the Limitless Labels set from Papertrey Ink. I was working on them late last night, and I didn't have any wide ribbon to tie the bow with, so I improvised and used some fabric strips. I think that they came out just fine.

Hot and Spicy Valentine Box and Valentine Nugget Box Tutorial

Here are the measurements for the Hot and Spicy Valentine box that was in this post.

The base of the box is 8 1/2 in. by 8 1/2 in. Score 1 1/2 in. on all four sides. The lid is 8 1/8 in. by 8 1/8 in. Score at 1 1/4 in. on all four sides.

Erin asked about the Valentine Heart Nugget box in this post. She wanted to know what the dimensions of the little box and lid that hold the nuggets. The base of the box is 3 3/8 in. by 4 in. Score 5/8 in. on all four sides. The lid to this box is 3 1/2 in. by 4 1/8 in. Score it on all four sides as well. I just adhered the lid of the box to the bottom of the top heart. I know that makes total sense!



I also like using the slider top for the nugget boxes, especially when using the clear acetate. The dimensions for the top for this particular nugget box are: cut your acetate 2 7/8 in. by 6 1/2 in. Then score it (along the long side, all measurements are in inches) 1, 1 5/8, 3 13/16, 4 7/18. I personally like to wrap it around the nugget box, and then use the sticky strip to make sure it is a good fit.

I made a whole bunch of these little houses while I was watching the Patriots play on Monday Night Football. It was a great game. I love these little house because they are functional, too. There is enough room inside to pack a present.



I used my Scor-pal to make the siding on the house. A Martha Stewart punch, combined with some Class A-Peels stickers from Stampendous made perfect little window dressings. Flower Soft was sprinkled and it looks like snow had just fallen on this little Christmas Cottage.

Etsy Shop and a Tutorial Update

Just to let you know that I have just listed a few more bucket covers in my Etsy Shop. They would make a perfect Valentine's Day gift for that special crafter. I have more fabric to cut out, plus Mom and I are going to the quilt shop next week so I should be doing lots of sewing.

Also, I would like to publish the tutorial for the Hot & Spicy Valentine's Day box. Unfortunately, I threw the piece of paper away that had the measurements on it (or maybe Tedy hid it with the crocheted flowers and paper roses!, so I will need to take the box apart to take the measurements.

More Valentine Paper Pouches

Here are some more Michelle Wooderson inspired paper pouches. You can find her post here with the directions. These are a little different, they use a different style bag and have two pockets. Bonus time! Double the pleasure, double the fun! I sewed the bags for Christmas, but never got around to decorate them! So, I decided to make them for Valentine's Day.

The paper is from the K & Company Die-Cut Valentine Cardmaking Pad. The pouch is decorated with some ribbon, a heart doily, and some of my handmade paper roses. It seems that my little girl kitty, Tedy, is quite fond of all handmade flowers. Not only have my little crocheted flowers disappeared, but I've finding my paper roses all over my apartment. She also has a thing for bows. She untied the big bows on front of the pouches. No wonder she is so tired, it appears that she had a busy night last night! The sentiment is computer generated.

I put little packages of M & M's in the front pocket and made a simple Valentine for the back pocket. I used the same paper as the pouch so it would match. My favorite little Martha Stewart doiles were adhered to the center with a couple of punched hearts.
