Etsy Shop Update

I just added some more mug cozy and notepad sets to my Etsy Shop. I have more in the "works", I'm going to make some more masculine ones for the upcoming holiday gift giving season. I have also added some handmade quilted change purses that my Mom made. They are the perfect size for money, make up or even a great way to package a gift card for a special lady. I gave one of them to my friend, Victoria, that I work with. She is also a Server and it's perfect to hold her money in her apron pocket.

In Suspense, The Just Us Girls Challenge

Here is my submission for the Just Us Girls (JUGs) Challenge. This week, the requirement was to use a template. I used the Shutterfly Template to make a quick treat box. The stamped image is Perfect Poison by Kraftin' Kimmie. I added a tombstone Quickutz die, some distressed Prima flowers, and a bow to finish it off.

Groovy Snowman Gift Card Ornament

Here is another fun way to present gift cards for the holiday season. This is a large plastic ornament that I bought at Michaels. It is the kind that opens in the middle. I stamped the Groovy Snowman, colored with copics, and mounted it various Nestabilities. All of the layers are attached with pop up dots. The gift card is attached with ribbon on the back. I wrapped ribbon and made a bow to cover the seam on the plastic ornament. It's loosely attached, so it is easy to retrieve the gift card. The tag sentiment is from Dandelion Designs.



The pictures didn't come out so great, I had a hard time photographing the ornament without getting the glare from the plastic.

Laura came over last week and we went to our favorite scrapbook store, Violette's. I love that place. We saw these cute little boxes made the Justrite Holiday Cheer set and decided we would make them. The boxes are cut from the Sizzix Bigz Carry All.

Christmas Money Snow Globe

I saw this idea in the new Holiday Cards & More magazine. I had a snow globe in my stash, so I decided to try it out. Unfortunately, my snow globe was smaller than the one in the magazine, so I made a few changes. I double stamped the Santa from the Holiday Button Bits set from Papertrey Ink, colored it with copics, and added my button. I took a $1 bill and practiced folding it until I got the size triangle I wanted. A punched star and tree trunk cut free hand completed my Christmas tree. When I was adding the glitter, I used WAY too much! I had to empty and rinse it out three times! The bottom of the snow globe easily comes off so the recipient can retrieve the money.

There Is No Place Like The Cuttlebug Challenge Spot

I had so much fun participating in The Cuttlebug Challenge Spot last week, I decided to play along again. I'm also so excited that I won last week's challenge! Whoo Hoo!! I wanted to make something that really wasn't too scary. I love the Wizard Of Oz, but when Dorothy is locked in the tower and she sees the Witch's head in the crystal ball, that is really scary!

I made a ginormous explosion box and added a some paper weaving to the sides to make it look like a basket. When you pull off the top of the basket, you get a surprise! The ruby mary janes were made from a template I got off the EK Success site a few years ago. I used the red glitter Core-dinations cardstock to make the shoes and then added some red Stickles to give it a little more dazzle. Toto is made out of a dog Quickutz Double Die. I made the yellow brick road with the Bubbles Cuttlebug Embossing folder which I cut into little pieces and then glued onto some glitter cardstock. I chose the creamy milk chocolate Dove candies because they were wrapped in blue foil to represent Dorothy's blue socks. A few prima flowers were added to my yellow brick road.





I had a lot of fun making this, I don't know who I should give it to!

Trick or Treat "Army" Style

My nephew, David, is a freshman ROTC student at University of Central Florida. His major is Mechanical Engineering and with a minor in Military Science. Ever since Davey was a little boy, he wanted to be an "Army Man". Well, he's now on his way! We are so proud of him. He looks so handsome wearing his uniform. It seems like just yesterday that he was watching "Yo Ho, Yo Ho" on his "beancr". That was a Disney Music videotape on his VCR! I used to make him candy buckets for Halloween when he was a little boy, and I wanted to do it again. David used to love Star Wars, one year he actually dressed up as Darth Mol. I don't know if I'm spelling that right! So, the Darth Vadar bucket seemed appropriate. I made the Dog Tag from the Cricut Stand and Salute Cartridge. The letters are cut from a Cuttlebug Alphabet and the tanks are a Quickutz. I filled the bucket with candy, some Star Wars pens, and a Starbucks gift card.

Mini Lunch Box Gift Card Holders

I bought these little lunch boxes at Target, I'm not sure when. They had Coke and Sprite logos on them. I decided they would make great gift card holders for the holidays. I love to give (and receive!) gift cards, but I like to present them in new and fun exciting ways. I took the hardware off, covered the logos with designer paper, and then re-attached it. I stamped a few of my favorite Dandelion Designs, added some ribbon, and a homemade snowflake embellishment and they are done! To make my little girl's cuffs fluffy, I applied Flower Soft. These would also be a great way package a little "sweet" treat for your friends and family.

Witch's Cauldron

This is another way to use Pack A Picnic from My Timeless Templates. I wish I could take all of the credit, but Lauren actually made one. You can see her post here. I cut out the small picnic basket, omitting the handles and the lid. I added a drippy border that I cut free hand after I embossed it using the Bubbles Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I added and extra layer of "drippiness" by using some green distressed Stickles. The cauldron handles are made with the Stampin Up Word Window punch and a circles cut out of silver glitter cardstock. Lauren used jump rings for hers, but I substituted. The little sign is made with a Savvy Stamp. I filled the cauldron with candy and added a little skeleton.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho, The Cuttlebug Spot Challenge Is For Me

I made this for the Cuttlebug Spot Challenge. The challenge this week was to make a Halloween treat container using embossing. I found this template from Qbee on Splitcoast to make a Mayflower ship. I changed to into a pirate ship. When I was at Target, I saw these great little skeletons in the Halloween aisle.



The base of the ship was embossed using the Swirls Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. The sails are cut from Nestabilities Labels 4 and 1.The skull and cross bones is a Martha Stewart punch. All of the pieces were sponged with Tim Hotlz Antique Linen Distress Ink. I put a little scarf on top of my skeleton's head. After I put him in his ship, I filled it up with some candy.

JustRite Challenge #038/Etsy Shop

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge

I love watching movies. My DVD collection is one of my most prized possessions. I can watch the same movie over and over again. My favorite movies are horror movies. Not necessarily blood baths, but truly scary movies, especially stuff that could be real. My favorites include Jaws (yes, I know, that couldn't be true because great white sharks don't act like that) and Psycho. I love Alfred Hitchcock movies, they are really scary and really not gross at all. He really knew what he was doing. I like the older movies, "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?", with Joan Crawford and Bette Davis is also really good. It's about two sisters, one who is totally crazy played by Bette Davis. It like it because of the sisters, it reminds me of two other sisters, and I'm not the crazy one!

I noticed when I was reading Karli's blog (Crafting with Class) that the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge (in honor of World Card Making Day), you could pick your favorite movie to be the inspiration for the challenge. Karli made one from Nightmare on Elm Street. That is a really scary movie! So I decided that I would make one for the challenge based on Psycho. The "rules" state that you have to tell a story about the inspiration. A few years ago, Laura and I were living together. Her children where at their Dad's for the weekend. Our bedrooms were on opposite sides of the house. We turned off all the lights and were watching scary movies in my room. It was a Saturday night, and the musical guest on Saturday Night Live was going to be Aerosmith. So the plan was, we would finish watching the scary movie my bedroom and then watch SNL in the living room because I didn't have cable in my room. We both had to go to the bathroom, so she was going to use the bathroom in her room. But, Laura had turned the light off on the ceiling fan, so she had to go through her room in the dark. Laura, being an educated woman, decided that she could carry would one of our cats, and if anything jumped out at her, she would throw the cat at it, because she saw that on the Mummy and it worked. So, I go in my bathroom, hear a scream, and go running to her rescue with my pants around my ankles! It turns out, that one of the cats puked on the floor, and Laura stepped in it and it scared her! We still laugh about that today. So, needless to say, Laura is the inspiration for this card.



When you think of Psycho, you think of the shower scene. I made a shower curtain out of vellum. The house is a BossKut die. I used Martha Stewart Stickers for the "Bates Motel" sign. The inside sentiment is, "We all go a little mad sometimes". It is from the scene with Norman and Marion in the parlor at the motel. Norman was trying to justify his Mother's behavior to Marion.

JustRite Challenge #038

I bought these tins of Prima flowers at Michaels on clearance and thought that I could use the tins as well. When I saw the JustRite Challenge #038 to make a 3-D project for fall, I decided these were perfect. Using my mini mint favor tins as the inspiration, I made these ginormous candy tins! I wanted to do a witch, so I used the Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge to make the hat. These would be great centerpieces, decorations, or just a fun gift.

I've been busy sewing for the past week. I saw these great covers to make for coffee mugs "sew" you can make it into a desk organizer. I immediately thought of my sister, who is a teacher and gets a ton of coffee cups for presents, and does not like coffee! Good Lord, what is wrong with her, and they try to tell me that our parents found me on the side of the road? The mug covers have pockets on the outside/inside to keep all your supplies organized. They are easily attached to the coffee cup with ribbon ties. I also made matching notepads to go with them. They would make a perfect gift for your favorite seamstress, quilter or Mary Engelbreit fan. I will be listing them for sale in my Etsy shop.
