My First Pop Up Card

I decided that I wanted to try a pop up card.  I hadn't made one yet, and decided that my Mom would really like one for Mother's Day.  I finished it yesterday, but I keep adding more embellishments onto it!  So, I had to finally decide that it was done, so I took the pictures.

I cut the flower pot freehand.  The flowers were made using the Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge and some Papertrey Ink Dies.  I just used an oval paper punch to cut the leaves out.  A few buttons, some bling and butterflies finished it off.  There are lots of pop up dots.  So, the card, when folded, doesn't lay completely flat.  I think I will tie a bow around it to keep it shut.

A close up of the flower pot:

Mother's Day Card

It's kind of a dark dreary day here in Central Florida.  So, that's my excuse for the not very good picture of this card!

I made the flowers using my Cricut and the Sweet Treats cartridge.  The stems were stamped, fussy cut, then attached to the card with pop up dots.

Stamps:  Papertrey Ink-Flower Fusion#1 and Blooming Button Bits
Ink:  Memento, Versafine
Paper:  Bazzill, MME, Simple Stories, October Afternoon,

Happy Birthday To My Big Sister!

I would like to thank everyone who has been expressing their support after the terror attack at the Boston Marathon yesterday.  While I was born in California and now live in Florida, I spent over 30 years living outside the Boston area.  I still consider it my "home".   My brother and father still live there.  Thankfully, Richard texted us right away to let us know he was ok, but it was a very tense 45 minutes before we found out that Dad was safe and sound, at home, taking a nap.  The Boston Marathon is more than just another marathon, it's a revered part of our history held on Patriots' Day, the day we commemorate the Battles of Concord and Lexington. These were the first battles of the American Revolution.   So, needless to say, my heart broke as I watched the videos, the injured being taken away, and heard of the deaths of Martin, Krystle, and third BU student.  However, I was proud when I watched the volunteers, EMS, the Boston Fire Department, the Boston Police Department and everyone else who ran towards the site to help the injured. Hopefully, that the suspects will be caught quickly and punished for this heinous act.  May God Bless the people of Boston and America.

This was the card I made for my sister for her birthday.  I haven't given it to her yet, I hope she doesn't see it before I do give it to her!  We are going to celebrate her birthday when we go to the Scrapbook Expo, whoo hoo, I'm excited!

It's nothing fancy, just a little stamping, coloring, punching and popping!

Better Late Then Never Easter Baskets!

So, I finally got my Easter baskets done!  With my work schedule, it feels like I'm constantly working and I only have enough time for sleep!  I hardly get any crafty time, which makes me sad.  But, after much thought, I have decided that working two jobs in the restaurant industry in the "tourist capital of Central Florida", is not for me.  I barely have time for myself and yet, not everyone understands how to tip their server.  So, all work, no pay, and no play makes me not a happy girl.  After much soul searching and advice from my bff and bsw (best sister in the world), I've decided to make a career change.  I have worked in the nursing and social work fields, my BA is in Sociology, but I'm ready for something different.  Now, I don't want to jinx it but telling you what it is as I'm in the process of applying for certification for this new career.  Let's just say that I'm will spending a lot of time studying for the tests to obtain for my state certification.  I'm excited about this as I will be able to do share my knowledge on some of my favorite subjects and have a somewhat normal schedule.  So, that is enough hints....I'll let you know when I have more information.

I love these little bunnies from the Purple Onion.  I stamped them, colored them, and paper pieced them.  The little fence was made using cork paper and the Sizzix Fence Die.

Ink:  Memento
Paper:  American Crafts, Recollections, Bazzill
