More Paper Pouches/Tutorial

Melanie asked about a tutorial for the paper pouches. They are super simple to make.

Take a lunch sack and fold it in half. Then fold the top of the bag down to the height desired for the pocket. Sew on three sides and you have your pocket. Then just embellish them anyway you want them. I love the individually wrapped Archer Farms cookies that you can buy at Target. I paired it up with a Starbucks Via Coffee Packet, and you have a great little gift.

This is my sewing machine. It was my Grandma Maggie's. It's a 1956 Singer, I love it.

Make sure your check out Michelle Wooderson's blog, Mish Mash, today for her new paper pouches. I'm definitely going to make some of those, too.

Supplies:
Stamp: Dandelion Designs-Sweet Christmas Wishes
Ink: Versamark
Paper: DCWV
Misc: Paper lunch sack, buttons, ribbon, baker's twine, nestabilities, paper punches, cookie, coffee pouch

Season of Giving Card

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We had a nice day, I got to do two of my favorite things: stamping and watching the New England Patriots win. It was an awesome game, and Kid Rock played during half time. He is so hot! I don't think our Mom appreciated the language my sister and I were using, though!

Here is one of the cards I made. I used a digital stamp from Squigglefly. I tried to channel Michelle Wooderson, and decided to use a paper sack as an envelope/gift bag. I love to use pop up dots, so sometimes the card is too thick for an envelope. I am also a big giver of gift cards, so this is a perfect way to package a nice card, a gift card, and there was even room for a big Hershey bar!

Supplies:
Stamp: Squigglefly-Season of Giving
Paper: Bazzill, unknown designer paper
Misc: Paper sack, copics, flower soft, paper punches, ribbon, buttons, pop up dots, half pearls, baker's twine, tag maker, glitter pen, buttons, sizzix snowflake die

**Yes, Melanie, I will do a tutorial for the paper pouches made with the lunch sacks. I just got called into work early, so I'll post the tutorial tomorrow. Thanks!**

Happy Thanksgiving

My bags are packed, and I'm ready for my craftapalooza at my sister's house. I had a hard time deciding what I should bring. I think that I over did it! This box is really heavy, I can hardly pick it up! The Patriots are playing and we are going to have a good time. My pom poms are ready for the perfect cheer! Tedy had to check it out, although she isn't coming with me. Even though her biological mother and sibblings live with my sister, she doesn't really like them! My sister also has two big dogs and they get really excited when company comes over. Tedy and Oscar will enjoy a quiet Thanksgiving at home.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

Christmas Tea Bag Pouches

Michelle Wooderson (Mish Mash) made these adorable paper bag pouches. She calls them "Pretty Pouch". Check them out here. I absolutely love them, and thought I would try them myself. I saw this cute little poem about Christmas Tea and thought they would be perfect together. They were pretty quick to make up. I used the Tea for Two set by Papertrey Ink and the new matching dies. It was so much easier than trying to cut the little tea pot by hand, though I need a little more practice lining up the stamp on the die cut. Some of them are a little "off". I can't remember if it was my Mom or Grandma Maggie that said that is how you tell it's homemade. After I finished the first one, I wondered if they would fit in a square envelope. Wouldn't you know it, they did! Bonus for me, what a great non traditional Christmas Card! Whoda thunk it?

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink-Tea For Two
Ink: Versafine
Paper: Martha Stewart, Bazzill
Misc: Half pearls, pop up dots, ribbon, Tea for Two dies, buttons, bakers twine, lunch sacks, sewing machine, paper punches, paper doily

Etsy Shop Update

I just listed the bucket covers in my Etsy shop. While I was doing it, I realized that I forgot to include the cupcake one in my previous post.

My Bucket O'Fun!

I have been busy sewing the past week. I am getting ready for the craft-a-palooza we are having on Thanksgiving. We are going to finish up our Holidays for Heroes cards. My sister is hosting the event, she has a big screen tv in her craft room and the Patriots are playing on Thanksgiving Day. Whoo hoo!! I'm doing the happy dance! I don't have any cases or special scrapbook bags because I don't go to any crops or stamp parties. I work nights and weekends and that is generally when they are held. I also have potty mouth when I craft, (now that's a shocker!) and most people don't care for that kind of language! So, instead of putting my supplies in a grocery bag, I decided to make a bucket cover. I bought the bucket at Lowes, it's a 5 quart bucket. The cover comes on and off just in case you have to wash it. It has 8 pockets on the outside and inside there is a divider pocket which holds Nestabilities perfectly. In order to put the cover on, you have to take the handle off (which is super easy), put the cover on, pop the handle back on, and it's ready to go! I made a little handle cover that I just hot glued onto the handle. The bucket holds a ton of stuff. I've started packing it already, there is even room for my favorite Mint M & M's.

I made a few extra covers, they would make perfect holiday gifts for your favorite scrapbooker/stamper/papercrafter. I will be posting them in my Etsy shop later today.

Tedy wanted to help when I was taking the pictures, she always wants to be involved with crafting!

Florida Snowballs!

Our brief cold weather is over, and it's hot again here in Central Florida. I had to turn the air conditioning back on last night. So, I'm hoping these snowballs will help coax some cool weather back!

They are super simple to make, even the kids can make them for friends and teachers. The "snowball" is an Aqua Pod by Zephyrhills, they come eight in a package. The hat is made with a sock and a pom pom. Paper punches were used to make the face and mittens. The sentiment is computer generated and can be easily changed for any "hot" state! I made the nose with Sculpey Oven Bake Clay. The sock hat just slips off, so you can still drink the water.

Supplies:
Paper: The Paper Company, Bazzill
Misc: Paper punches, sock, popm pom, sticky strip, rhinestones, sculpey oven bake clay, wooden skewer, white gel pen

Sweet Snow Couple

This is one of my favorite stamps. While I hate the snow, I love snowmen. One of the many great things about Dandelion Designs stamps is that they are easy to color, which is totally awesome if you are mass producing cards. This is one of the cards that I'm sending to the Holidays for Heroes program.

Supplies:
Stamps: Dandelion Designs-Girl with Snowman
Ink: Memento
Paper: Debbie Mumm, Bazzill
Misc: Nestabilities, eyelets, white gel pen, diamond glaze, pop up dots, chunky glitter, chalks, liquid applique, copics

Pilgrim Candy Bar Wrappers

I was inspired by the Pilgrim Wrapper on Laurie Furnell's blog. It's the kind that you download, print, and wrap it around the candy bar. It's already colored, so it's super easy. You can see her post here. I felt like doing some punching, I had a bad day at work, so here's my version of Pilgrim Candy Bar Wrapper.

Supplies:
Paper: Debbie Mumm, Bazzill
Misc: Nestabilities, paper punches, candy bar, wrapper, sharpie pen, white gel pen, pop up dots, crimper

Happy Veteran's Day!

Veteran's Day is one of my favorite holidays. It's so important to me to thank all the Veterans and Active Duty Service People for their service to our country. I made this mug cozy and notepad as a gift for a fellow stamper, Veteran, and the Mom of two soldiers.

Many members of my family have served our great country going all the way back to the Civil War. I'm so proud of them. I'm planning on making a scrapbook of sorts to commemorate them. This is part of the list, as I am still compiling all of them.

Is There Life Before Coffee?

It's been cold here in Florida, cold for Florida! I've been enjoying the cooler weather. I got to wear a sweatshirt, which is unusual for me, I'm always sweating! Poor Oscar was cold, he wanted the heat turned on, but I told him to put a sweater on if he was cold. That is what my Dad used to say when we were growing up. He found this comfy warm spot and he was happy!

I was watching "Sell This House" on A&E on Saturday morning while I was getting ready for work. I don't know why I like that show, I live in an apartment, but I have to watch it every Saturday. Roger, the designer, mixed coffee and mineral oil together and used it to cover scratches in wood furniture. I decided to try it. With a little elbow grease, I was able to cover up scratches on my furniture. My apartment smells like Starbucks, it's awesome! It inspired me to make this notepad, and of course I had to make a mug cozy to go with it. I actually made two and I will be listing them in my Etsy shop.

Supplies:
Stamps: JustRite-A Little Caffeine
Ink: Memento
Paper: Core-indations, Bazzill, unknown ledger designer paper
Misc: Nestabilities, pop up dots, Quickutz Mug die, ribbon, notepad, fabric, bias tape

Donny the Donut Turkey

Edit: I've received many inquiries about the donut portion of this project. They are pre-packaged, four in a package. I have used Little Debbie and Blue Bird brands. They were purchased at Walmart.

Sorry, I had to do it. I know I'm probably taking the donut thing too far, but I bought the variety pack!

The feathers are made using the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More Cricut Cartridge. The head and eyes are made from a variety of paper punches. The hat, beak, and waddle were cut free hand, then I made the buckle with the square Nestabilities. I added the Stickles to the beak to give it a little more dimension.

Would this be considered a vegetarian turkey?

Supplies:
Paper: Bazill, Bo Bunny, Recollections
Misc: Tags, Bags, Boxes & More Cricut Cartridge, nestabilities, donuts, stickles, pop up dots, paper punches, black sharpie pen

Edit: I've received many inquiries about the donut portion of this project. They are pre-packaged, four in a package. I have used Little Debbie and Blue Bird brands. They were purchased at Walmart.

I literally woke up in the middle of the night with this idea. I'm not sure what is worse, dreaming about donuts or snowmen! These would make a great gift for teachers, secret santa, co-workers, anyone special. They are super easy to make using a variety of paper punches.

Supplies:
Paper: DCWV, The Paper Company
Misc: Nestabilities, paper punches, ribbon, donuts, pop up dots, rhinestones, white gel pen

Holiday Birds

I saw this great card in Holiday Cards & More Vol. 5. by Kim Kesti. I decided to case it, but I made just a few changes. I used the Large Christmas Circles and Holiday Birds sets by Hero Arts. I cut the birds out and attached them with pop up dots to the circle tags. Now I have one more card done for my Holidays for Heroes stash.

Supplies:
Stamps: Hero Arts-Holiday Birds & Large Christmas Circles
Paper: The Paper Company, Bazzill
Ink: Memento
Misc: Copics, nestabilities, paper punches, brads, pop up dots, baker's twine

Holidays for Heroes Cards

I hope everyone had a safe and nice Halloween. I normally work nights, so I miss the trick or treaters. One of the girls at work need to trade her lunch shift so I jumped at the offer. I went to Target and bought a bunch of candy. So, there I was on Sunday, waiting for the sun to go down. I live in an apartment complex and there are children who live there, so I was pretty confident that I would have some little spooks and goblins at my door. I was even worried that I would run out of candy. So, there I was waiting. Then I decided I would open my door so everyone would see I was home. Still nothing, I went out on my porch, no children. I waited until 10:00 PM, and no trick or treaters! It was a little depressing, oh well, what can you do! But, at least I bought candy that I like.

Today, I've started working on my Holidays for Heroes Cards. The American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes sponsor this great program. Handmade cards are sent to our Troops oversees and our Veterans here at home. If you are interested in participating in this great program, there is a blinky link on my right sidebar with the rules and information. My Mom, Laura, and Jenny are planning a huge craftapalooza on Thanksgiving to work on our cards to send for the December 10th deadline. I'm starting on mine now.

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink-Holiday Button Bits (Warm Winter Wishes)
Ink: Memento
Paper: The Paper Company, Bazzill
Misc: Sizzlits Snowflakes #15, twill ribbon, flat lace, glitter pen, half pearls, pop up dots
